Coffee Shop in Kingston, Ontario

In 2016, the Juniper Cafe opened in the Tett Centre on the shore of Lake Ontario in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The Tett Centre is an impressive piece of architecture for the arts in Kingston, and the branding for the cafe had to be equally modern, professional, and appealing. Further, the brand identity had to support the cafe’s vision of exceptional local fine food and coffee with only the finest ingredients.

For the Juniper Cafe, I designed the logo, marketing materials, signage, a website, and shot advertising photography. For graphic design and branding, we paired the simplicity of black and white with a striking patina colour. For the logo, the handcrafted “J” in Juniper, combined with the modern sans serif font for “cafe”, creates a logo that is appealing to traditional and modern sensibilities. The cafe is now a bustling hub for artists, university students, hipsters, families, tourists, and outdoor enthusiasts that might visit via Lake Ontario or the waterfront walkway.

Since opening, the cafe has been featured in Edible Ottawa, Kingston Life, Kingston Lobby, Queens Journal, and Profile Kingston. Visit the Juniper Cafe website or stop by the cafe to enjoy one of Kingston Ontario’s finest casual dining establishments.
